I can predict the weather in Coastal Oregon for any day in August, any year in the near future. It will be partly cloudy, with humidity in the 70 to 80 percent range and daytime temperatures in the mid 60s. To my friends in Palm Springs, this must sound like heaven right about now!
Many areas on the Oregon coast look like rain forests (minus the tropical part); they are dense with trees and vegetation right up to the coastline. The coast is rocky in some places, sandy in others. We are here primarily to visit the Oregon Dunes National Monument, but we’ve made a few other stops along the way.
While staying in Lincoln City, we visited the town of Newport. These photos were taken at Nye Beach in Newport.
Also while staying in Lincoln City, I spent an evening at the town beach in Taft, which is on a point, one side of which faces the bay and the other side of which faces the ocean.
Great shots! Are you sure it wasn’t Fiona frolicking with Frank? Hah!
Thanks.
As to the frolicking, I think it was mutual. Generally speaking, Frank is not a frolicker, so I guess she brings it out in him!
Beautiful pictures. I’ll be in Oregon in a couple weeks.
Thanks Vicki. Oregon is lovely but I have to confess I missed the sun. I hope you have a great time.
Great pictures. Yes, like the central California coast you may need jackets in august. Don and I are hoping to get up there next year at some point. And yes, those temperatures sound like heaven!
Thanks Paul. It was wonderful to be cool for a few days. Coastal Oregon is lovely. Its a bit isolated but it does the job when you are tired of the hot dry desert.
I once thought of living on the Oregon coast. Your photos show why!
This is intended to reply to both of your comments, since I know you are sharing an email account at the moment. The Oregon coast is lovely, and it was great to be in the cool, humid weather for a few days. But I must confess, I missed my desert landscape and I was delighted to return to it today.
