As I mentioned in my first post, our ultimate destination on this trip was Seattle, Washington. We went to visit our son who lives there and to spend a few days in the Yakima Valley area, east of Seattle, which is an up and coming wine region.
Unfortunately, the smoke from the wild fires in the Northwest and Canada followed us to Yakima Valley. Most of the time we were there, visibility was limited and the air quality was at the unhealthy level. In spite of this, we did manage to visit a few wineries in the area and discovered some very good wines.
When we left Yakima, we headed to Seattle. Fortunately, the smoke and excess heat did not follow us there. We were able to visit a bit with our son, go out to eat a few times, and visit Gas Works Park, a bit of a Seattle landmark.
The photos that follow were taken at Gas Works Park, on Lake Union, just as the sun was setting. A former gas company plant on the site was decommissioned and reopened as a public park. Some of the original equipment remains, serving as a kind of “industrial art.” While I wasn’t able to get any good shots of the old equipment, I did manage to get a few shots of the skyline, the space needle, and the iconic houseboats docked on the lake.
Great (re)start Leslie!
Thanks so much Kim. I’m using skills I’m afraid I don’t actually possess but I appreciate the encouragement.
